CT I Lety u Písku was one of two so-called „Gypsy-camps“ on the territory of the „Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia“. Both camps served as concentration camps within the framework of the national socialist persecution of „Gypsies“. In the camp itself, about 330 men, women and children lost their lives, more than 500 others were deported further to the concentration and extermination camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau for being Roma or Sinti. This database contains the names and fates of those who were deported from the territory of today’s Czech Republic, be it their homeland or may they have been deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto before from different european countries. Further, it contains basic information on those men, women and children, most of whom were Roma or Sinti, who died as prisoners of the so-called „Gypsy camp I“ Lety u Písku.
